The Provisional Republic of Aetolia (Aetolian: Προσωρινός Δημοκρατία της Αιτωλίας, Prosorinós Dimokratía tis Aitolías) was a kritarchic republic established in Aetolia following the aftermath of the August Revolution. It was intended to restore the rule of law to the country and draft the country's new constitution. Much of the period was characterized by widespread armed conflict, both between Republican and loyalist forces, and border clashes with Varkan republicans.
